Early Life and Challenges
Born in Tepatitlán de Morelos, Jalisco, Martha Sánchez faced transgenerational trauma and economic hardship. Inspired by figures such as Mother Teresa, she was motivated to support others. Her mother’s relocation to Los Angeles left Martha with the responsibility of raising six siblings in Mexico.










Educational Achievements & Professional Roles
Martha Sánchez pursued her education with determination, earning degrees in Community Planning and Economic Development, Negotiation, Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding, and Marriage and Family Therapy.
She is currently a mental health clinician and adjunct professor at LA Mission College, continuing her lifelong commitment to community service.















Activism Beginnings
In 1995, amid political and financial hardship, Martha migrated to the United States, where she survived human trafficking. Determined to rebuild her life, she became a vocal community organizer after uncovering environmental hazards near her children’s school. Her leadership fueled an 8 year campaign that ultimately shut down a dangerous company.















































Community Impact and Advocacy
Martha Sánchez has played a pivotal role in advancing neighborhood revitalization by promoting new development of underutilized land with new schools and affordable housing, new sidewalks, better infrastructure, safer environments, protecting home ownership, fighting gentrification and leaving a lasting impact.

Martha has played a pivotal role in advocating for healthcare reform, dedicating her efforts to expanding access to quality, affordable care for marginalized communities and ensuring their voices are represented in policy discussions.

She has worked alongside labor coalitions to amplify the voices of immigrant and low-wage workers, ensuring their struggles are recognized.
